C# Jobs in Dublin

Recently I heard someone say that every software developer who wants a job has one, while that may be a slight exaggeration, it certainly feels true a lot of the time when it comes to .NET Developers. While recruiting for graduates on the .NET side is as tough as ever in a fiercely competitive market, it’s proving to be even more difficult to find candidates with that all important 2-5 years’ C#/ASP .NET experience- not to mention the other “extras” employers like to see (experience with SQL Server, JavaScript, AJAX, XML etc.). Many employers don’t mind taking on the slightly more junior developer, but simply don’t have the time or resources to train from scratch. This means they’ll look at candidates who have 2+ years behind them in some form of development capacity, thus saving them the hassle of solving teething problems that can crop up in the first job after college.

However, these candidates are proving somewhat of a challenge to unearth. Rewind 7-8 years ago, when these candidates were choosing college courses. Software development wasn’t the snazzy choice then, with the pain of the dot.com collapse still relatively fresh in everyone’s minds. Instead, students flocked towards Civil Engineering, Auctioning and other property/building-related courses.

So now we have a situation whereby the candidate with 3 years’ experience in a decent company and hands-on .NET development work will have their pick of software development jobs; from cutting-edge development houses, to large multi-nationals and social networking companies.

If you are a C#/.Net Developer with 1 or 2 years experience, do you feel you have the world at your feet? Do you feel you have too many jobs to go through?  Cpl currently has a number of very interesting opportunities and we are really keen to engage with .Net/C# Developers to understand what are the key issues driving your career decisions.
