On Friday 21st of June, more than 90 Cpl Staff from across the entire group participated in the Cpl 10K Gym Challenge and Charity Fundraiser. As part of Cpl’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, the HR team launched the new ‘My Wellbeing’ initiative designed to encourage employees to live an active and healthy lifestyle. The Dublin offices chose to complete the 10 kilometre in triathlon form comprised of a 2K Row, a 6K bike ride and a 2K run.
Cpl offices throughout Ireland and Central Europe ran their own walking and running events at local gyms and public parks. Some of the highlights included the Cork and Galway offices travelling to Limerick to compete together and Cpl Budapest’s 5.5K run around Margaret Island on the spectacular River Danube.
Participants could choose to take part individually or as part of a team. The fundraising drive required each participant to secure sponsorship to compete in the Gym Challenge. Additionally, on the same day, all staff were invited to donate €5 each to the charity non-uniform day and Cpl is delighted to announce that a total of €1000 was raised for our 2013 chosen charities, St. Francis Hospice, MS Ireland and Pieta House.
That evening, social events were organised for each office and festivities continued long into the night. We would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to the event and in particular, Rob Priestman and Fintan Lavery for organising a fun and competitive afternoon. We’ve had an extremely positive response from staff who commended the 10K Challenge for encouraging physical health and fitness and there are already plans for a follow-up event.
