Upskilling for the Pharmaceutical/Medical Device Sector

Despite some tentative signs of minor market recovery, the pharmaceutical and medical device industry remains an incredibly difficult one to enter. Graduates with little or no experience can find breaking into the regulated sectors very tough. Innopharma labs have designed an exciting and innovative training program to make this transition into the industry a smoother one.

The pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical device industries are major growth areas for Ireland and will continue to be in the future. There will be an on-going demand for people to work in this area making Innopharma Labs’ role in training and upskilling vital. Cpl Science and Engineering has seen a huge growth in the requirement for skilled staff across the industries. These needs cannot be met by the existing talent pool.

Based on our observations of the market we can deduce that graduates who have attended such courses enjoy greater success in finding placement in the industry. Our studies confirm this with 75% of 2011 graduates securing employment following participation in similar courses. Innopharma labs are currently recruiting for their next course, which will commence in September. At Cpl we are committed to ensuring science education is at the fore in Ireland.  We are delighted to recommend Innopharma labs’ as an ideal way to meet the requirements of the regulated industries.

Innopharma Labs will commence two courses in August and September. The August course runs for 5 months.  It is an intensive course and provides a broad overview of industry relevant skills. These skills include Product and Process Development, Engineering, Automation, Validation,  Process Analytical Technology, Quality assurance, Quality Control, Bio-Pharma, Medical Device and Manufacturing. The course is aimed at unemployed persons who are already degree qualified in Science/Engineering or a related discipline.

September marks the commencement of the Level 6 Certificate in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Operations. This 4 month course will be ideal for candidates who wish to supplement their existing core skills. It will also be extremely useful to individuals looking to upskill in order to gain an entry level position within the Pharma/Medical Device Industries. The course is aimed at unemployed persons who hold a minimum of a Leaving Certificate or NFQ Level 5 qualification. The courses, which are run in conjunction with ITT Dublin, will be free of charge for participants who meet the eligibility criteria.

Cpl Science and Engineering are partnering with Innopharma Labs as part of our continuing commitment to science education and communication. These initiatives clearly demonstrate our shared goals in the area of training and education. We believe these courses will be mutually beneficial to both organisations and will allow CPL to meet its requirement of procuring a ready supply of skilled talent.
