Senior Supervisor for Steel structure and Fabrication
Responsible for production activities of a 140 person, 4 supervisors, one shift operation of a steel fabrication plant (steel bodybuilding).
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain a properly balanced fabrication workforce capable of effectively producing the designated services and products of the fabrication shop
- Insure all fabrication shop employees are familiar with all company policies and standards. Including but not limited to policies regarding safety, quality and productivity
- assist in developing utilization plans for available materials, manpower and machinery to provide the required product and/or services as needed
- Direct and supervise Layout, MIG, Stick, Plasma, CNC, Shear, Overhead crane, Quality Control
- Investigate, report and resolve any personnel issues concerning the fabrication shop employees
- Participate in the fabrication shop estimating process and coordinate with design team as needed
- Read blue prints, material takeoff, estimate manhours of production
- Layout of steel components from shop drawings
- Plan and execute heavy lifts with overhead shop cranes
- Record and report all labor hours to the corresponding project and/or cost code in coordination with the planning team
- Train and develop personnel when needed
- Read and understand plans and specifications
- Inspect shop conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies and cost saving measures that arise ormay be encountered
- Identify work place safety hazards and take corrective action
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards
- Insure quality standards are met at all production stages
Qualifications and key Skills:
- Trained and experienced with MIG, Stick, Plasma, CNC, Shear
- 10+ Years experience as certified welder/fabricator
- 8 years experience managing on-site steel fabrication
- Experience in fabricating Portal Frames, Tanks, Manholes, Structures, Warehouses, Semi-Trailers & Trailers Buckets, Rigid Chassis Bodies, transit and static steel structures.
- Quality Oriented
- Strong working knowledge of welding, forming, and shaping of carbon steel
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CNC nesting software
- Computer Experience MS Windows/Word/Excel
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective verbal, listening and communication skills
- Time management skills
Added value skills:
- High School diploma or GED
- 10-15 years of supervisory experience
- certified weld inspector
- Ability to operate press brake, CNC machine
- Ability to operate plasma arc cutting table
