System Analyst - Database Development Project
Our client has identified the need for a new service user database to replace their existing one. The new database will provide essential operational, commercial and strategic cross-functional information.
Our client is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced professional to perform the systems analysis and produce a requirements specifications document for the proposed new system.
The main tasks associated with the systems analysis will include:
- Gathering and agreeing business and management information requirements from all stakeholders, internally and externally, for a new service user database
- Investigating, clarifying and agreeing user content and reporting requirements across a range of departments and functions through consultation
- Developing, evaluating and recommending solutions to meet the range of user needs in the form of a logical data model and functionality specifications
- Developing and recommending a conversion, testing , roll-out and back-up strategy for the new service user database
- Preparing a detailed requirements specification document
The requirements specification document should:
- Specify the content, reporting and functionality requirements to meet operational, commercial and strategic needs
- Establish the basis for agreement between our client and the software developer on what the software product is to do
- Provide a basis for estimating costs and schedules for the development/customisation of software
- Provide a baseline for validation and verification of subsequent development/customisation work
Qualifications
Relevant third level qualification such as a Bachelor of Business, Technology, Information Technology or related discipline is required.
Experience
· Prior experience (minimum of 5 years) of conducting business analysis in a variety of settings/organisations
· Experience of working across functions, and levels, and with staff groups who have a range of knowledge and skills in IT and MIS
· Experience of working to tight deadlines
The successful candidate must be able to start this short term contract no later than 1st March 2012. This is a daily rate contract for between 3/4 days per week.
