· Designs, develops, plans and implements IT system solutions including development and support of moderately complex IT systems, and modifications to existing systems.

· Monitors system performance and capacity, and reports changes in usage.

· Forecasts system demand, recommends upgrades, expansion, and reconfiguration.

· Troubleshoots software and hardware problems, takes appropriate corrective actions and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing testing, support, and troubleshooting functions.

· Participates in site set-up, user training, software/hardware installation, maintenance and support, and documentation of hardware/software logs and operating procedures.

· Performs basic user administration (adds, changes, deletes, disk space management, backups and file restores).

· At least 2 years recent relevant postgraduate experience

· A B.Sc. or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline and experience in systems operation and administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

· Knowledge of the operating environment including mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, database, and output/receiving.

· Experience with Unix-Linux Administration, Including Satellite, Kick Start and scripting and Veritas.

· Experience with NAS/SAN Storage.

· Experience with UNIX maintenance patching.

· Experience with AIX, Sun, AS-400 nice to have.

· Virtualization and partitioning experience.

· Troubleshoot Cisco IPT, routers and switches in a LAN and WAN environment - CCNA desirable.

· Ability to analyze existing systems in the context of business needs and determine how to refine/repair/refactor them as appropriate
