In partnership with its client, Kenny-Whelan is currently seeking a Test Engineer to work for their client in Co. Galway. This position reports to the Process Engineering Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- Development of Test System Solutions (ICT & Functional) in accordance with Project Milestones.
- Shop Floor Management System (SFMS) - Lead the definition, roll-out & integration of the SFMS in both sustaining Operations as well as within the NPI Group.
- Provide Technical support for all test systems in production including; Hewlett-Packard HP3070/I5000 series in-circuit tester, National Instruments based Customised Function Test & Run-In Systems, Camera Module Assembly & Test (CMAT) Systems, numerous dedicated Functional test systems (PC, I/O card and GPIB instrument based).
- Customer Support: Support the investigation & resolution of Customer Problems (PDCA resolution).
Key tasks/duties:
- Analysis of the Process Flow for each NPI in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers & IT to clearly define the SFMS WBS & facilitate the implementation in line with Project Milestones.
- Support the Sustaining Operations Group in the effective deployment of SFMS.
- Carry out a detailed analysis of Customer Product/Test specification and draft test system specifications.
- Coordinate the external development of Test Systems with Suppliers such as Agilent, AEI, ASL who carry out Test System developments.
- Debug Test Systems (HP3070SII/I5000), and Products and generate Fault-finding guidelines to assist debug Technicians.
- Liaise with R&D Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers & Quality Engineers in the development and introduction of Customised Test Systems to the Production Floor.
- Participate in product Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) activity, particularly with regard to test coverage and design for test and also PFMEA activities. Update Test PFMEAs regularly in line with CA implementation.
- Attend Weekly meetings to report on Test System issues & Corrective Actions.
- Assist in generating quotations for new product Test requirements.
- All functions must be carried out in accordance with procedures as documented in the Quality Manual.
- Generate Test System Validation Plans/Results in conjunction with the Quality Dept. i.e.; Capability Studies, R & R Studies for presentation both internally and to Customers.
- Assist Project Teams in NPI Test activities (New Product Introduction) with particular focus on Design for Test issues.
- Generate Annual Budgets in relation to Test Equipment Procurement, Test Equipment Maintenance & Test Equipment Calibration.
- Development of Training Plans for Engineering Technicians in order to provide day-to-day Production Test Support.
- Coordinate the Internal/External Calibration Activities associated with in-process Test Systems in conjunction with Quality & Production Depts.
Skills, Abilities and Education
- Degree in electronics or equivalent essential.
- Minimum 4 years experience in electronic manufacturing.
- Operation / support of In-circuit testers, preferably the HP3070.
- PCB debug and repair to component level.
- A working knowledge of both in-circuit and functional test.
The following would be beneficial but not essential:
- Mechanical / tool room experience.
- Pneumatics, GPIB, RS232C interfaces and use, PC I/O card installation
- Q BASIC and C++ programming
