Business Unit Leader

Role Description

My client is a major food manufacturer based in Co Antrim. We are currently recruiting a Business Unit Leader to join there senior management team.

The Role

Manage production operations and staff in order to meet the Company objectives, and deliver on key performance indicators to best in class standards of performance. The post holder will be accountable for delivering their KPI’s within budget

  • Lead and direct the Production and Section Leader Teams with clear objectives / accountabilities so as to achieve operational and business plan targets.
  • Carry out individual staff performance reviews and address and identified training and development needs to be met
  • Integrate all members of the department into a cohesive effective team by providing effective leadership within the function. Promote the company values
  • Implement briefings and other initiatives to provide timely communication of information and build engagement and employee co-operation
  • Deliver Health and Safety targets and accountabilities on the site and become directly involved in initiatives to reduce accident and claim levels. Manage all health and safety issues relating to the area.
  • Manage site technical and hygiene issues and processes to best in class standards.
  • Maximise operational efficiencies, including quality, yield and labour utilisation, and packaging standards. Minimise the site overhead and unit costs.
  • Monitor that all equipment is fully functional and utilized with appropriate maintenance and development plans.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring appropriate plans are in place and implemented to deliver peak production activity requirements with particular focus on Christmas production.

The Person

  • Proven track record and has been operating at a relevant managerial level within food manufacturing.
  • Strong people management skills and experience gained at middle management level.
  • Extensive knowledge of food processing.
  • Performance driven with a proven track record of success in FMCG processing environment.  And with proven track record in customer facing capacity e.g. audits, pre-production launches.
  • Has gained leadership skills and been involved in successful teams.
  • A role model, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Numerate and possessing good analytical skills, with experience of tracking production statistics, variances, KPIs etc.
