Software Support Developer

Role Description

The Client:

Our client is responsible for the safe, secure, economic and reliable operation of the transmission system in Northern Ireland. 

The Role: 

The Software Support Developer contributes to the overall success of the client by working on their own initiative or as part of a team, to support IS systems and applications. The Software Developer is required to support the IS Corporate Applications function in the delivery of key IS applications\systems.

The software developer should have a good understanding of software development within a complex integrated systems environment.  They will provide support, maintenance and development services for a range of new and existing IS Group applications & systems.

  • Responsible for 2nd and 3rd Line support issues, investigation of data and code related incidents and problems.
  • Develop, test, document and implement software fixes for reported defects/bugs.
  • Develop, test, document and implement application enhancements that fully meet customer requirements.
  • Develop, test, document and implement new systems to meet the needs of the business where required.
  • Where applicable, work with 3rd party suppliers to investigate and resolve reported defects on downstream systems.
  • Provision of support to larger projects when required through analysis or development assistance.
  • Provide out of hours support on a rota basis.
  • Software Development using VB.Net and ASP.Net 2005, 2010, 2013
  • Ensure the secure administration of source code versions.
  • Provision of documentation (technical, test, training documents etc) in line with Company standards.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training other members of the team on new or changed systems and the handover to support.  

The Person:

  • A formal 3rd level qualification in an IT or related discipline;
  • Minimum 1+ year post graduate design and development experience is required;
  • Background of Microsoft.Net, Vb.Net or C#, Stored Procedures, and XML;
  • Relevant experience in implementing enterprise solutions as described above, as well as production of technical specifications and support guides;
  • The person in this role must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, while handling multiple tasks and changing priorities, having the ability to work well under pressure;
  • Extensive technical and analytical skills;
  • Previous experience developing & working with WebServices;
