Financial Analyst

In partnership with its client Kenny-Whelan & Associates is currently seeking a Financial Analyst for the Cork area.


The Client:

The Client is a well established multi-national.



The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and management of General Ledger in accordance with US GAAP. Responsibility also for monitoring general accounting processes carried out by Shared Service Centre and Outsourced Accounting partner. Assists in the preparation of the monthly management reporting pack for local operations management and completes budget reviews as part of the month-end close process.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial /General Accounting:

  • Ensure accuracy of financial accounting entries under US GAAP accounting rules

  • Work with cost/management accountants to ensure all manufacturing accounts are accurately stated at monthly and  quarterly/year-end close

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for all assigned accounts on the general ledger using online reconciliation system

  • Ensure Intercompany accounting processes are adhered to and all intercompany accounting instructions followed and acted upon in a timely manner

  • Complete ongoing quarterly and year-end reporting requirements

  • Prepare financial statements under local GAAP for employee share scheme


Financial Planning, Forecasting & Reporting:

  • Local management reporting – perform review of OPEX results versus budget for all material categories of expense, highlighting trends and forecasting projected future OPEX variances

  • Work with cost accounting team to prepare monthly management reporting pack for review by all areas of site management (production and non-production)


Financial Oversight for Outsourced contracts:

  • Carry out ongoing review of spend, highlight areas of concern and suggest areas for improvement

  • Complete regular audits of outsourced partners’ purchasing processes to ensure adherence to agreed contract processes


  • Prepare and submit monthly P30 and Annual P35 tax returns and assist in the preparation of other tax returns/submissions as needed

  • Ensure Pension payments are made timely and accurately

  • Complete ad hoc corporate and local management reports

  • Act as main point of contact for audit teams for audit of manufacturing site annual audit, pension and share scheme financial audits.


  • Qualified Accountant ACA/ CIMA/CPA/ACCA with approx. 3 years post qualification experience

  • Advanced Excel and ability to analyse data

  • Advanced Ms Office and experience of electronic management systems



  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP

  • SAP experience essential

  • Experience in preparing financial statements under IFRS and Irish/UK GAAP


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in a small team and communicate effectively with non-financial management

  • Strong organisational and documentation skills
