Analytical Manager

Role Description

The Client

My Client is one of Ireland's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers. Based in Co Down, but with locations globally, they require an Analytical Manager to lead their Research Team.

The Role

Working within the Research and Development Department, the Analytical Manager will be responsible for management of the Analytical Method Development & Validations Laboratory in the conduct of analysis and the development, subsequent validation and transfer of analytical methods whilst adhering to the highest quality standards and timelines

  • Develop & implement best practices within Analytical Research, supporting on-time delivery of new products.
  • Develop & drive a high performance culture within the Analytical team, ensuring effective communication, team & individual development, and performance management for team members.
  • Key member of the Company’s Technology Transfer team, and other project teams as required, accelerating the launch of new products.
  • Maintain the Analytical Laboratories within GMP guidelines, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance at all times, & maintain awareness of changing regulations (GMP/Quality standards) and impact on laboratory practices.
  • Build excellent working relationships with peers & team members to ensure effective communication and project delivery to support on-time delivery of products to our Customers.
  • Define, develop, plan and manage Analytical projects while supporting the development, validation and transfer of analytical methods for both new and existing products.
  • Effectively manage Analytical Laboratory including defining and achieving KPIs, budget management, review & authorisation of Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Methods.
  • Develop a continuous improvement mindset – effectively manage risks & issues, implement escalation processes, embed key learnings for process improvement.

The Person

  • BSc Degree in Analytical Chemistry/Biochemistry
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a senior laboratory management role leading an analytical team within a pharmaceutical environment
  • Excellent knowledge of GMP and VICH Guidelines
  • Experience in working with multiple formulations
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, often working to tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing change and driving continuous process improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks and implement solutions to maintain project timelines & budget
  • Excellent people management skills, including high standards of performance management, motivation and team development
  • Ability to drive change at all levels to accelerate analytical programmes
