Financial Controller

Cpl are delighted to be recruiting for a Financial Controller on behalf of a leading employer based in Belfast. The Financial Controller will be joining a company currently going through a strong period of growth and will have overall responsibility for leading the finance team to ensure the efficient production and integrity of financial accounts, to efficiently handle transactioDevelop and update financial control systems as necessary to meet current governance standards and put processes in place to mitigate any financial risks.

Responsibilities

  • Management of  financial and management accounting and ensuring effective financial controls and reporting procedures are in place.
  • Responsible for financial transactions and accountancy matters, including any related audit systems. 
  • Deliver against financial targets, corporate plans, budgets and forecasts in accordance with the strategy determined by the Board and Management Team.
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts pack and ensuring the integrity of all financial information provided to the Board. 
  • In conjunction with the Group Finance Director, assist in the management of the formal corporate planning and budgeting process.
  • Provide quality financial management information to the Management Team in a timely manner.
  • In conjunction with the Group Finance Director, ensure compliance with current and pending company law and that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding company financial affairs.
  • Benchmark financial performance against best in class competitors and identify areas of opportunity for improved performance and competitiveness
  • Effectively develop and maintain corporate relationships with key external stakeholders including banks/financial partners, government bodies and legal representatives
  • Maintain efficient project management systems in the control of capital expenditure to include forecasting, planning submission, appraisal, monitoring and closure of projects.
  • Provide financial commentary and evaluation to all levels of management to support effective business decisions and promote cross departmental and group cohesion.
  • Provide sound, effective leadership and direction to all direct reports.
  • Clearly communicate departmental goals and objectives to individuals and manage performance against agreed targets in line with strategic plans and to ensure delivery of best practice.
  • Ensure sound principles for asset protection are applied and observed

Requirements

  • Chartered accountant with strong leadership and influencing skills who can immediately demand the respect of colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience at the level of financial controller within a large commercial organisation with multiple locations.
  • Relevant similar experience iis preferable.
  • Proven experience in integrated financial and management information systems, preferably ERP systems
