Role Description

CAD Technician - Co. Antrim

CPL are delighted to be working with one of Northern Irelands leading specialist contractors in Facades, Entrance lobbies, Glass roofs, Balustrades, Floors, Lift shafts and Screens. They are looking to add a CAD technician to their team.

The purpose of the role will be to perform surveys on site, prepare working drawings and buying lists in line with budgets (and cost categories identified in Sales Budgets).

Provide a support service to operations by assisting Contracts Managers to manage the procurement and delivery of materials in sufficient time for each contract.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to information supplied by the Sales or Technical Departments in preparing drawings of work to be completed
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and also have experience of 3D AutoCAD
  • Attend meetings and assist the companys representative in discussions and negotiations with customers if required
  • Liaise with customers in improving and/or designing away problems in specified work and ensure changes are agreed and recorded
  • Assist the Pricing, Estimating and Surveying functions in respect of specifying work to be done and agree a final specification measuring on site as necessary
  • Conduct site surveys as required including measuring, templates, structural detail and/ or other necessary information
  • Transfer the customers requirements from concept to working drawings using AutoCad or other computer drawing package as necessary
  • Drawings must have set-out dimensions for Fitters and (if necessary) be accompanied with Drawings for channel set-out and Fin Shoes etc
  • o These should be produced in a pack that can be left with the materials for each job/project
  • Maintain archives of drawings and other details relating to products in an easily retrievable and timely manner.
  • Compile material lists from the agreed specification (approved drawing) for procurement by buyer and update Contracts Manager responsible for contract, discussing/ highlighting any relevant details at that point in time
  • Ensure Purchase Orders are Coded Correctly and clearly identified - Seek advice/clarification from Sales if required
  • Be responsible for Orders - Accuracy, Quality, Completeness, Delivery Deadline, and Coded correctly etc
  • Obtain dates when materials will be in stock this will be determined by CM in charge of job and the programme/dates given to CAD/Buying to ensure they are in stock in good time to ensure they meet specifications well in advance of being required
  • Update PO Summary
  • Liaise with Workshop Manager regarding Material Lists for projects, so that both are aware of what is required and when it is required (incorporating sufficient contingency to ensure all materials will be available when required)
  • Liaise with Workshop in production and preparation of products and in dealing with any technical queries
  • Provide specialist technical support to staff or customers as required.
  • Undertake any other duties considered by the company as reasonable and within the CAD Technician’s competence.
