Environmental Manager

Role Description

The Client

My Client is one of Irelands largest pharmaceutical manufacturers. Based in Co Down, but with locations globally, they require an Environmental Manager to join their EHS Team.

The Role

Based within the Environmental Health and Safety Department the successful candidates will work as part of their existing team reporting to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The Environmental Manager will work to ensure the client meets its legal obligations with regard to environmental legislation and ensure commitment to the sustainability and care of our environment.

  • Maintain/develop the Environmental Management System in order to ensure the environmental impact of the company including associated risks are monitored, controlled, minimised and that continual improvements are made.
  • Review/update the companies Environmental Impacts & Aspects Register, the companies Environmental Legal Register and Environmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to the guidelines set out in the company’s IPPC Permits. Ensure company complies to Consent to Discharge Permits. Compile & submit annual Environmental Reports to NIEA for review.
  • Maintain and report Environmental KPIs to senior management monthly. Set Environmental objectives and targets on annual basis.eg water, waste, energy.
  • Auditing: Complete weekly audits on raw material stores, bunded areas, storm water discharge locations, effluent treatment facilities, waste holding areas etc, ensuring benchmark housekeeping standards. Complete 3rd party waste audits.
  • Manage site emissions monitoring and analysis, including air, surface water, ground water, trade effluent discharge, noise, odour, boiler emissions and waste.
  • Main contact and host for regulatory agency and customer environmental audits.
  • Submit various reports annually to regulatory agencies.
  • Meet commitment to Climate Change Agreement, complete annual energy consumption submission to NIEA. Lead energy efficiency team.
  • Ensure company complies to relevant legislation and any upcoming legislation.
  • Provide guidance to all company personnel regarding their environmental responsibilities and carry out training as required.
  • Ensure compliance to REACH and COMAH regulations where required.

The Person

  • Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of environmental legislation and regulation.
  • Experience in hosting audits from regulatory agencies and customers.
  • Competent in all Microsoft Officer applications.
  • Competent in report writing and presenting to Senior Management.
  • Experience in training and advising other employees in environmental issues.
