The theme of this years Ibec HR Leadership Summit at Croke Park was “Leadership for a New World.” During the one day event a panel of leaders from HR, industry and academia presented on related topics, from the importance of networking and diversity to how leadership will evolve in a digitised and globalised world.

As associate sponsors, we were in attendance as both partners and ticket holders – enjoying talks from Hermini Ibarra and Oisin O’Gogain amongst others.
“Act like a leader, think like a leader” – Herminia Ibarra
Award winning speaker Hermini Ibarra was the highlight for many. If you haven't heard of Herminia before she is the Charles Handy Professor of Organizational Behavior at London Business School, author of the hugely popular book
Act Like a Leader, Think Like a Leader and the 8th most influential management thinkers in the world, according to Thinkers 50.
Herminia spoke about the 4 big trends reshaping our lives: Longevity, Technology, Corporate change and Social expectations. The energetic talk also discussed the importance and challenges of networking in our professional lives.
“1% improvement in diversity leads to 3% improvement in engagement” - Oisin O’Gogain, HR Director, Aon Ireland
Oisin O’Gogain, HR Director at Aon Ireland, was another highlight. Oisin focused on a topic we’re passionate about here in Cpl – diversity and inclusion.
During his talk Oisin explained Aon Ireland’s diversity strategy with inspirational examples including Aon’s sponsorship of the Ireland’s Women’s Rugby Team.
How leadership shapes decision making - Joan Hodgins, HR Director of Diageo Europe
Diageo Europe’s HR Director Joan Hodgins outlined how leadership is defined in Diageo & how it shapes their decision making.
One stand-out comment was the fact that Diageo has invested an impressive 30 million in their leadership programme – which aims to inspire purpose-driven and inspirational leadership. Definitely food for thought.
Overall the event inspired innovation and inclusive leadership in the work place, combined with brilliant networking opportuities and insights from some of Ireland's best HR professionals. A pleasure to attend and sponsor.
