Some of you might have read my blog on why I was giving up emails and relying on phone calls. When I wrote that blog I hated phone calls and thought they were disruptive and only benefitted the person making the call. I would have gladly left my phone on ‘do not disturb’ forever (if I could get away with it). Now, my phone is open for business, I’m more productive and I only check my emails four times a day.

In a recent Cpl survey 80% of jobseekers stated that their main pet peeve was recruiters who don’t reply to applications. Some of you reading this may be nodding your head thinking ‘it only takes two minutes’’ and ‘’don’t be so rude’’ but if we aren’t replying to your email there is usually a good reason why.

205 billion email messages are sent per day, while the average office worker receives 121 emails a day. How are we supposed to get our emails noticed, or organise our inbox to weed out the spam from the essential?
Imagine a workplace without emails. Where we picked up the phone to schedule meetings, ask for a favour or talk through strategy. This will be my reality for a week, and it makes me extremely uncomfortable.
